indiana-circleWe’ve traveled a lot the past few weeks and have been blessed to be able to help other people. We could help ‘in the moment’ and know the satisfaction of leaving a solid helping hand to keep on serving after we left so that people in Haiti have a better chance at avoiding amputation in 2013.  “Season of Thanksgiving”

Now, back in the Indianapolis area and working hard to help you all with your foot care, we’re convinced that there is no place like our Indiana home. The people here with their generous hearts suit us to the proverbial “T”.

This past weekend we were at the Indianapolis Colts game, enjoying the great weather. The weather was great at Indy’s Lucas Oil Stadium and the fans were rewarded with a Colts’ win over the Buffalo Bills. Even more encouragement and inspiration came from the generosity of people donating to cancer research in honor of Colts’ head coach Chuck Pagano, who is fighting leukemia.

Colts’ cheerleaders Megan M and Crystal B took the support for the coach to the top. The top of their heads, that is, when they let Blue (Colts’ mascot) take a clipper to their locks. The resulting shaved hair style raised over $22,000 for the cause. According to reports in Yahoo’s Shutdown Corner, Crystal C. is a leukemia survivor.

They aren’t alone according to new articles. Great Clips salons are reportedly donating $10 to Blue’s ChuckStrong Challenge for every person who agrees to have their head shaved in acknowledgeable. To date over 800 fans have had their heads shaved and more than $250,000 has been raised by Colts’ representatives for the ChuckStrong campaign. You can learn more about the project by visiting the ChuckStrong section of the Colts’ official website.

These two generous women represent a high-quality organization group that we enjoy encouraging and supporting. The Colts are further honoring their head coach with a 7-4 record and a spot in the thick of the AFC playoff race under interim head coach, Bruce Arians.

At Hoosier Foot and Ankle, we’re thankful and proud to be Hoosiers in all directions this season!
